4-6 hours with optional evening session, at select venues in conjunction with purchase of a separate “bat survey” training
Dates: The Zero Cross Data Module begins immediately upon the conclusion of the selected training and will run for approximately 4-6 hours, with an option for an evening field data-collection opportunity or classroom data management session.
Location and Directions: This is an “add-on” class to any bat survey training (e.g., data management class, acoustic survey course, field study workshop). Unless otherwise noted in the pre-course materials, the Zero Cross Data Module will be conducted at the same venue as the selected training.
Lodging: Students must make their own lodging arrangements at or near the training venue if participation in the Zero Cross Data Module will extend return travel plans made for the associated training.
Meals: One additional meal (i.e., lunch or dinner) will be provided for students to facilitate an afternoon or evening instruction period.
Pre-course Preparation: Only students already registered for a scheduled bat survey training offered by Bat Survey Solutions, LLC may purchase this training module. The curriculum, demonstrations, and hands-on assessments are designed to provide a comprehensive introduction for the use of the Bat Call ID (BCID) and EchoClass software programs to perform USF&WS compliance surveys for the Indiana and Northern long-eared myotis species only. Because these software programs do not include the vast majority of western bat species, this module may not be appropriate for bat workers outside the Indiana and Northern long-eared myotis ranges. We will also use KaleidoscopePRO software to view Zero-cross files. Interested students may also receive a brief introduction to viewing Zero-cross files in AnaBat Insight and/or AnaLookW.
Pre-course materials will be sent in conjunction with the associated training materials when students receive their complete list of what to bring and how to prepare for their training, but feel free to contact us at any time if you have specific questions about this module or how to prepare. A functional trial for the BCID program will be distributed in class. Directions will also be provided on how to obtain the free version of AnaBat Insight, AnaLookW, and EchoClass. A sample agenda for the Zero Cross Data Module is available for download HERE.
How to Register: Please register by ordering a standard training online first and select the Zero-cross Data Module and choose the associated venue from the "Add to Venue" drop-down menu to purchase the Module separately. NOTE: To register multiple people, please checkout each person individually so that we can obtain the proper contact information for each participant. Use the Student Registration Details link to provide complete student information for our records.
